WE ARE A VOLUNTEER GROUP INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE BOROUGH OF PALMYRA, NEW JERSEY. WE ARE DEDICATED TO COLLECTING AND DISSEMINATING INFORMATION ABOUT PALMYRA TO INTERESTED PARTIES. WE COLLECT AND DISPLAY ARTIFACTS AND PICTURES, HOLD INFORMATIONAL AND CULTURAL EVENTS AND ASSIST PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN RESEARCH.
OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE COLLECTED ARTIFACTS RELEVANT TO THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF PALMYRA. AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AND FOR RESEARCH ARE BOOKS, NEWSPAPERS, A CIVIL WAR DIARY WRITTEN BY CAPT. CHARLES HALL, PICTURES OF MANY OF THE HISTORICAL SITES AND BUILDINGS IN THE BOROUGH, PERSONAL EFFECTS AND OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST TO THE RESEARCHER.
AMONG OUR RESOURCES ARE INFORMATION ABOUT CITIZENS PAST AND PRESENT. EXAMPLES OF THESE RESOURCES ARE AN ORAL HISTORY, PICTURES OF THE ORIGINAL PUBLIC SCHOOL BUILDING, A TRANSCRIPT OF THE CIVIL WAR DIARY OF CAPT. CHARLES HALL OF THE 4TH NJ REGIMENT, COMPANY E VOLUNTEERS MUSTERED IN ON AUGUST 15, 1861, AND ARTIFACTS FROM LENA BLACKBURNE, A PROFESSIONAL BALL PLAYER WHO LIVED AND DIED IN PALMYRA.
